World Environment Day is celebrated annually on 5 June
The theme of this year's June Five-Year Environment Day is:
"Comprehensively Promoting the Construction of a Beautiful China"
On June 4, our district held a series of publicity activities on the theme of the 2024 June Five-Year Environment Day in Millennium Plaza, with nearly 170 representatives of cadres and workers, CPPCC members, teachers and students from all levels and departments in the district participating in the activities.
Focusing on the theme of "Promoting the Construction of a Beautiful China for the Whole People", the event issued an initiative to call on the majority of cadres and people to practice a green and low-carbon lifestyle and actively participate in ecological and environmental protection; Awards were presented to the teachers and students of the four primary schools in Xifei who won the Outstanding Organization Award, the First Prize, the Individual Encouragement Award, and the Outstanding Instructor Award in the 2023 National "Baxi Cup" "My Nature Story - "Gaunt Ecological Children's Book" Story Continuation Solicitation Activity. The representatives of the four primary schools of Xifei made speeches on the in-depth development of campus ecological civilization education activities.
The event reviewed the ecological and environmental protection work in Yanliang District since 2024, and advocated that everyone focus on the theme of "comprehensively promoting the construction of a beautiful China" and jointly build and govern a "beautiful aviation city".
17 departments in the region jointly carried out environmental protection consulting services, and distributed legal books such as the Environmental Protection Law, the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law, the Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law, and the Noise Pollution Prevention and Control Law to the masses, teachers and student representatives, as well as policy publicity materials related to pollution reduction and carbon reduction, the creation of zero-waste cities, the ban on straw burning, and the prevention and control of ozone pollution. With the theme of "Protecting the Ancestral Qinling Mountains, Optimizing the Ecological Environment, and CPPCC Members in Action", the representatives of the CPPCC members of the district set up a propaganda platform for the ecological protection of the Qinling Mountains to carry out publicity on the ecological protection of the Qinling Mountains to the masses, and called on the citizens to actively participate in the ecological environment governance of the Qinling Mountains with practical actions.
At the same time, a variety of ecological environment monitoring equipment such as handheld TVOC detector, portable visible spectrophotometer, portable oil tester, and multi-functional noise meter were displayed at the event site. The staff demonstrated the use of environmental monitoring instruments to the masses, explained the main functions of each instrument, and let everyone feel the scientificity, authenticity and accuracy of the ecological environment monitoring work in the new era "zero distance".

Since the beginning of this year, Yanliang District has carried out in-depth "excellent ecology" actions, and the ecological environment governance has continued to be stable and improving. From January to April, the number of good days in the district was 81, an increase of 17 days year-on-year; The comprehensive air quality index was 4.88, an improvement of 19.7% year-on-year, ranking first in the city, and the air quality continued to improve. The water quality of the Shichuan River exit section has reached the surface class III., and the water quality of the Qinghe exit section has reached the surface class IV., and the water environment quality is stable and improving. The environmental quality of soil and groundwater in the whole region remained stable. The monitoring values of urban sound functional areas have reached the control standard of Class I sound environment functional areas. In the assessment of the city's ecological and environmental protection work in the first quarter of 2024, Yanliang District ranked first in the city.
