The film has been in production for a year, taking place on an actual F1 track, during the official Grand Prix race weekend. Although filming was temporarily interrupted in 2023 due to strikes, it has since resumed and the cast and crew have appeared in parts of the races during the 2024 F1 season. The film, unofficially known as "Apex F1", stars Brad Pitt as a former driver who returns to assist his team-mate, played by Damson Idris. The star-studded cast also includes key roles played by Carey Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzis, and Sarah Niles.
