On June 24, the opening ceremony of the 2024 "Gulingyuan" China-US Youth Exchange Week was held in Fuzhou. Xianhui, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended the opening ceremony and read a congratulatory letter from President Xi Jinping. Entrusted by Zhou Zuyi, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Zhao Long, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor, attended and delivered a speech. Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng delivered a video message.
Zhao Long pointed out that President Xi Jinping's important congratulatory letter fully reflects the great importance he attaches to deepening the friendly exchanges between the people of China and the United States, and his ardent expectation for continuing to write a new chapter in the Guling story. Fujian will thoroughly implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important congratulatory letter, make the "Gulingyuan" activity better and better, and make new contributions to the healthy and stable development of China-US relations.
Zhao Long said that the story of Guling and the love of Guling show that the people of China and the United States can completely transcend differences in systems, cultures and languages and establish a deep friendship. The different cultures of the world make the earth more colorful, each beautiful, and the beauty is shared; The exchange of different cultures will surely make human civilization more progressive, respect each other, and develop together. In recent years, Fujian has vigorously inherited and carried forward the important concepts and major practices pioneered by President Xi Jinping during his work in Fujian, carried forward the spirit of Guling, and deepened exchanges and cooperation with the United States in the fields of economy and trade, sister cities, and people-to-people exchanges, and forged a deep friendship between the people of the two places. Young people are the most energetic and full of dreams, and the future of China-US relations lies with them. We welcome more and more young Americans to come to Guling, Fujian, and China to experience the vigorous vitality of Chinese-style modernization and a more real, three-dimensional, and comprehensive China. It is hoped that the young friends of the two countries will have in-depth exchanges, enhance friendship, get to know each other, walk hand in hand, and become a new generation of envoys of China-US friendship, so that the friendship between the Chinese and American people will grow vigorously and endlessly like the thousand-year-old cedar on the Guling Mountains. At the opening ceremony, the Chinese and English websites of "Guling Yuan" were officially launched.

With the theme of "Inheriting the Friendship of Guling and Deepening Friendship", the 2024 "Guling Yuan" China-US Youth Exchange Week will hold about 50 activities, including the planting of friendship trees by Chinese and American youths, youth bazaars and intangible cultural heritage performances, Sino-US documentary screenings, "Tea and Coffee Dialogue", "Dreaming Back to Guling" special session, and Guling Tea Talk.
