On June 21, an ordinary summer day, the Thai government submitted an extraordinary application – it officially sent a letter of application to join the BRICS organization. This move is like throwing a stone on the global stage, causing ripples at every turn. Prior to this, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had taken the lead in expressing his stance and started the process of joining the BRICS, opening the prelude to the competition of Asian, African and Latin American countries to join the BRICS.

Today, this "BRICS fever" has swept many corners of the world. Thirty-four countries, including Venezuela, Senegal, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Bahrain and Pakistan, have submitted applications to join the BRICS, as if they are competing for precious "golden seats" in a war without gunpowder. Turkish Foreign Minister Fedan was even more blunt during his visit to China, saying that Turkey is also eager to become a member of the BRICS.

These countries seeking to join the BRICS are all major powers in Asia, Africa and Latin America, including members of the G20. Saudi Arabia, Iran, Argentina, Algeria, Indonesia, Egypt, Mexico, Nigeria, United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Syria...... Each of these names represents a vast land and a deep cultural heritage. They are either rich in oil, large in population, or strategically located, all of which are important forces in their respective regions.

However, why do so many countries want to join the BRICS? Is it really "the more people are better to do", the more the merrier? The answer is obviously not that simple.

Since its inception in 2009, the BRICS, an organization of five countries, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, has gradually developed into an economic bloc with global influence. Its member countries have vast markets, abundant resources and strong economic strength, and are able to jointly address global economic challenges and promote stable growth of the global economy.

For those countries seeking to join the BRICS, joining the BRICS means not only more economic opportunities and space for cooperation, but also the ability to sit on an equal footing with these major powers and jointly set the rules of the global economy. In this global economic system dominated by a few developed countries, the BRICS countries, as an emerging economic bloc, are gradually rising and changing the economic pattern of the world.

However, joining the BRICS is not an easy task. BRICS countries have strict membership criteria and high cooperation requirements. These countries need not only strong economic power and a stable political environment, but also common economic interests and a vision of cooperation with the BRICS countries. Therefore, for those countries that want to join the BRICS, they need to put in more effort and preparation to be able to stand out in this "golden opportunity".

In short, the expansion of the BRICS has become an inevitable trend. As more and more countries join this organization, the BRICS countries will become stronger and more influential. For those major countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America, joining the BRICS is not only an economic opportunity, but also a political challenge and opportunity. They need to show their strength and wisdom on this new platform and create a better future together with the BRICS countries.
