"On 27 June, the 2024 Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone Fire Rescue Joint Emergency Drill was successfully completed at the Shizimen Tunnel. It is reported that the drill simulated the scenario design of "spontaneous combustion of a single vehicle found in the tunnel, linkage test of the fire protection system, vehicle accident in the tunnel, trapped rescue of the spontaneous combustion of the vehicle, blockage accident in the tunnel, traction clearance and resumption of traffic", and set up a total of 3 drill subjects of fire extinguishing, wounded treatment and road obstacle clearance and traffic recovery.

Subsequently, the vehicle at the scene of the accident was examined and identified, and the cause of the accident was investigated. The emergency response team cleared the wrecker and consignment of the accident vehicle and the tunnel, and the tunnel facilities were checked by the technical personnel, and after confirming that the conditions for safe passage were met, the drill detachments were safely evacuated, and the tunnel resumed normal operation and opened to traffic.
According to the organizers of the exercise, the drill simulated multiple scenarios such as tunnel fires, vehicle accidents, diversion and smoothness, and focused on testing the rapid response, departmental coordination, emergency rescue, comprehensive disposal, logistics support, and aftercare capabilities of units at all levels, strengthened the working mechanism of mutual linkage between various units, improved the practicability and operability of the emergency plan, and realized the effect of "drilling" with "practice".
