Sichuan-Yunnan Jinsha River Bridge is a cross-river bridge connecting Geqiao Expressway and Jinsha River Expressway, lying on the Jinsha River, with a total length of 1155.25 meters and a main span of 1060 meters. According to the person in charge of the construction unit, after nearly 4 years of construction, the bridge has completed 90% of the main project, the steel truss girder is expected to be closed in early July this year, and the bridge deck welding, main cable winding protection and follow-up related work are expected to be completed in August this year. At that time, the bridge will be completed and opened to traffic just around the corner.
Reconstruction: It is more convenient for migrants to travel in the reservoir area of Baihetan Hydropower Station
Qiaojia County is located at the junction of Yunnan and Sichuan, connecting central Yunnan and Chengdu and Chongqing, and is an important transportation corridor, cultural corridor and economic corridor between Yunnan and Sichuan. Although it is a transportation corridor, Qiaojia's transportation development is very slow. During the Qianlong and Jiaqing periods of the Qing Dynasty, silver and copper produced from Dongchuan and Huize were transported to Qiaojia along Baiwu Village, Nagu Town, Huize County, through Menggu Town. When this ancient copper road passes by the Jinsha River, the cliff is towering, and the local wealthy businessman Liu Handing donated money to raise people, and after a lot of hardships, he opened up the stonemason plank road that can only be used for one person and one horse to go to Qiaojia. From Dazhai Town down, the same wall stands thousands of miles, there is no way to go, the local people have to dig out a sheep intestine path on the cliff wall hundreds of meters high with the traditional road construction method, people carry the goods on the white crane post road about 1 meter wide to walk, must be careful, the slightest carelessness will fall into the Jinsha River hundreds of meters deep. The parrot slip under the Baihe Beach is the highest slip in Asia, witnessing the difficulty of the survival of the people on both sides between Sichuan and Yunnan...... It also made the reporter feel that Qiaojia's traffic was struggling for a long time.
With the construction of Baihetan Hydropower Station, the traffic situation in Qiaojia County has been significantly improved. In the past, from Qiaojia County to Dazhai Town, there was a simple rural road on the right bank of the turbulent Jinsha River, and it took nearly two hours for the people of the two places to communicate with each other. Nowadays, through the reconstructed Qiaoda Highway, the people of Dazhai Town can reach the county seat in less than 1 hour.
Guo Jianzhong, director of the Baihetan Project Resettlement Project Department of the Three Gorges Corporation's Resettlement Office, said that the resettlement plan of the Baihetan Hydropower Station is in line with the national road network plan, and five grade roads and two bridges across the Jinsha River will be rebuilt in Qiaojia, and additional support funds will be arranged to support Qiaojia County to improve transportation and other infrastructure construction in combination with the relocation and resettlement of migrants. Qiaojia County has taken advantage of the huge leverage effect brought by rehabilitation funds and support funds to integrate project funds and build a high-quality road network in the reservoir area. On the one hand, the submerged reconstruction funds were used as capital, and the construction of the Geqiao Expressway was quickly completed with multi-party financing, opening up the first expressway connecting the Baihetan Hydropower Station reservoir area to the outside world; On the other hand, the construction of highways along the river on schedule has extensively benefited the masses in the reservoir area.
According to the information provided by the Qiaojia County Transportation Bureau, in the past three years, a total of 4.2 billion yuan has been invested in the construction of five 115-kilometer grade highways, including Qiaojia County Binjiang Highway, Zhaoqiao Secondary Highway, Jinzhong Highway, Sulfur Cave to Lufang Highway, S301 Makou to Qiaojia Section Reconstruction and Expansion Project (Dazhai to Qiaojia Section). Invest 61 million yuan to rebuild 4 wharves in Menggu, Jintang, Beimen, and Liming, and 2 ship docking points in Tianshengliangzi and Zuantianpo. Invest 56 million yuan to build 19 external transportation connecting roads of Kuzhou Village, 61.458 kilometers. With the completion of the reconstruction of roads, wharves and connecting roads for immigrants as scheduled, Qiaojia County has comprehensively upgraded the level of highways, improved traffic conditions, and made the transportation of local people more convenient.
Acceleration: The construction of Qiaojia Expressway "runs in small steps" and then accelerates
With the start of construction of Baihetan Hydropower Station, Qiaojia's transportation construction has ushered in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. On January 2, 2020, the Gele Qiaojia Expressway was completed and opened to traffic, and it only takes 2.5 hours to complete the high-speed from Kunming to Qiaojia.
In the three years since the first unit of Baihetan Hydropower Station generated electricity, the construction of Qiaojia Transportation has been accelerated. According to the person in charge of the Qiaojia County Transportation Bureau, driven by the construction of the Geqiao Expressway, the expressway in Qiaojia County began to "run in small steps". On January 3 this year, the Yunnan Zhaotong section of the G7611 Duxiang Expressway was completed and opened to traffic, benefiting Xiaohe, Hongshan, Xindian, Dongping and other towns in Qiaojia County. With a total estimated investment of 2.5 billion yuan and a total length of 11.53 kilometers, the 11.53-kilometer-long Hui (Ze) Qiao (Qiao) Expressway is under intense construction and is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in 2025. As the "two-hour economic circle" of Zhaotong City, the Lu (Dian) Qiao (Jia) Expressway starts from the Shaba River in Longtoushan Town, Ludian County, passes through Baoguyuan, Laodian, Chongxi and Zhongzhai, and ends at Boxi, Baihetan Street, Qiaojia County, with a main line length of 71.299 kilometers. The Qiaojia section is 58.22 kilometers long, and since the full start of construction in 2022, the Qiaojia section has completed an investment of 3.31 billion yuan, of which the bridge and culvert have been completed 21.5%, and the tunnel has been completed 18.3%, and it is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of 2026.
Along the Zhaoqiao secondary highway, the reporter saw that there were many bridge piers along the highway, the exit of the Baoguyuan tunnel had appeared, and the construction of the Luqiao Expressway was advancing across the board and progressing smoothly. At present, the reconstruction wharf of Baihetan Hydropower Station in Qiaojia County has been completed. The upper and lower dam wharves are connected by the dam turning road, using the secondary highway standard, with a total length of about 40.396 kilometers. The 176.9-kilometer-long Baihetan Hydropower Station to Wudongde Hydropower Station dam site waterway project has been completed and can be reviewed, and the Liming Waterway Maintenance Base is in the process of land approval, and the 197.56-kilometer-long Baihetan-Xiluodu Waterway construction project is also being actively promoted.

After the Baihetan Hydropower Station was impounded, Qiaojia's mountains were greener, the water was greener, and the traffic was more convenient. With the orderly progress of the construction of Duxiang, Luqiao and Huiqiao expressways, the construction of Baihetan dam turning wharf and Baihetan waterway, and the planning and construction of Zhaopanli, Dongqiao Railway, Yanjiang Railway and Jinsha River Waterway, Qiaojia will become an important comprehensive three-dimensional transportation hub on the border of Sichuan and Yunnan, forming a multimodal transport development pattern of "road, rail and water".
