The recently released movie "Hourglass" is really a big surprise.
This film, adapted from Rao Xueman's best-selling novel of the same name, starring the new generation of actresses Bao Shangen and Qiu Tian, was originally expected to be high, but the result? It can only be said that there is a great expectation, and there is a great disappointment.
The movie tells the life experience of the character Mo Xingxing, his mother was killed when he saved people, his father was drunk and decadent, and he was bullied on campus, which was really miserable.
Then the newly transferred Misha appeared, which became her lifesaver.
These two heroines quickly got closer to each other because of their similar family backgrounds and became confidants.
But with the appearance of the actor Lu Li, the relationship that was originally as calm as water began to become turbulent.
At first, Lu Li fell in love with Misha, but later learned that Mo Xingxing had a rare disease, so he turned around to take care of her.
This plot is really more bloody than the bloody drama at eight o'clock.
The most bloody thing is that Mo Xingxing found out that her mother had saved Lu Li, and then her understanding of friendship turned upside down.
In the end, in a rainstorm, Mo Xingxing rushed out of Lu Li's arms, causing Lu Li to be injured in order to save her.
It's a toss-up.
Although the film has been criticized for its scattered plot and lack of innovation, the elements of school bullying, love triangles, and family tragedies are still quite attractive.
Especially the triangular relationship, although it is a bit drastic and even a little unrealistic, it can be regarded as a profound reflection of the struggles and contradictions of youth.
But to be honest, the plot of this movie is really too old-fashioned, and it makes people want to sleep when they watch it.
But then again, the themes of youth and family that the film explores are quite valuable.
Just like Mo Xingxing faced her father's drinking problem, she still chose to invite Misha into her life, which shows her desire for friendship and complex emotions in her heart.
Also, in the movie, Mo Xingxing chose an extreme self-sacrifice method in order to save Misha, who was sexually harassed, and this cruel method of trying to show campus bullying is really uncomfortable.
Lu Li, played by Huang Minghao, is really anxious when dealing with the complex emotional relationship with the two heroines.
He is completely unable to express his inner struggles and contradictions, and the character is particularly superficial, like a wooden man.
The shooting style of the film is also speechless, trying to express the plot of school bullying in slow motion and lighthearted ways, and the result? Not only did it fail to achieve the desired effect, but it made people feel abrupt and incongruous.
Rao's original novels were popular with young readers, and she was widely praised for her delicate depictions of adolescent psychology and marginalized groups.
Can this movie? The presentation in these aspects is really too simplified, and it fails to show the depth of the original work at all.
The characters in the original book are like Jiang Lan and Abu, who originally had rich backgrounds and motivations, but in the movie? It's a simplistic villain, and it doesn't fit into the main narrative at all.
Although the film tries to touch the heartstrings of the audience through triangles and friendships, due to the serious shortcomings in narrative logic and character building, the whole work still fails to achieve the expected emotional depth.
In the face of the increasingly mature aesthetic and emotional needs of modern audiences, the production team still has to more accurately capture the spirit of the original work and reinterpret the complexity and beauty of youth with higher production standards.
Otherwise, it will only disappoint the audience.
