On the evening of June 30, Shagang Group issued an obituary stating that Comrade Shen Wenrong, chairman of the board of directors, passed away at 2:10 on June 30, 2024, at the age of 78. The Shen Wenrong Funeral Committee is scheduled to hold a memorial event at 8:30 on July 4 in the gymnasium of Jiangsu Shagang Group Co., Ltd.

Shen Wenrong is a member of the Communist Party of China, a representative of the 16th and 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and a representative of the 9th National People's Congress.

According to China Entrepreneur Network, after graduating from junior high school, Shen Wenrong entered the predecessor of Shagang, Jinfeng Ginning and Stripping Factory, and became an ordinary worker. In 1974, the ginning factory raised 450,000 yuan to build a small steel rolling workshop, and Shen Wenrong was also one of the preparers. In September 1983, the rolling workshop was named Shazhou County (now Zhangjiagang City) Rolling Mill, which was separated from the ginning and stripping plant and belonged to the name of the County Metallurgical Industry Company. In 1984, Shen Wenrong was appointed as the factory director, and since 1992, Shagang Group has been established, and Shen has taken over as chairman, president and party secretary.

As the head of Shagang Group, Shen Wenrong gets up at 5 o'clock every morning and goes to the workshop to take a turn. At 6:30, when the workers began to enter the factory one after another, he sat on the stone bench at the gate of the factory to greet the employees, and assigned work to the team leader of the workshop in person. Every morning at 7 o'clock in the morning for the regular meeting of senior leaders, he will be on time. He can work at least 10 hours a day without getting tired, and fiddling with steel is his greatest passion. For many years, Shen Wenrong has been living in a 70-square-meter dormitory in the factory, and its standard is no different from that of ordinary workers.

As Shen Wenrong's life's work, Shagang Group's official website said that Shagang Group, as one of the world's leading steel material manufacturing and comprehensive service providers, was founded in 1975 and headquartered in Zhangjiagang City, Jiangsu Province.

The reporter of "Daily Economic News" noticed that on February 2 this year, the official website of Shagang Group issued a document saying that on January 19, Shagang Group held the 2023 Advanced Commendation Conference, Shen Bin, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Group, Gong Sheng, Executive Executive Director of the Board of Directors and President, Executive Executive Director, Vice President and Chief Engineer of the Board of Directors, and Chen Shaohui, Chairman of Shagang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., attended the meeting, but Shen Wenrong did not attend.
