You can do this every time you lose confidence in your writing!

author:Writer and publisher Yao Maodun

Recently, a reader left me a message, saying that he had written for more than two years, but he had not written anything famous, and he had published very few works in regular journals, and he had not made any money.

As someone who has come before, I feel this very well. Over the years, I have also been hit countless times, and the idea of changing careers has appeared in my mind many times. But luckily, I persevered!

So, how do I do it?

You can do this every time you lose confidence in your writing!

Based on my own experience and in-depth communication with many writers around me, I now put forward the following 7 methods for writers' reference.

1. Look back on your successes: Think about the articles or works you've written that you're particularly satisfied with, as well as the positive comments you've received from others, to regain your confidence. Tell yourself that the current situation is only a temporary trough, and that your work is not useless.

2. Know how to split goals: The lack of confidence of many writers may be related to the fact that they set goals that are too big. At this point, try breaking down the big goal into smaller ones. For example, write an outline and then complete a portion of it each day. It's easier to stay motivated by running in small steps.

3. Don't do it behind closed doors: Many writers like to lock themselves in their study and keep their ears out of the window. You may want to go out and have a look, and at the same time boldly send your work to a trusted friend or peer to read, and ask them to give feedback. Even if other people's opinions may not always be positive, you can find the gaps and inspire new inspiration.

4. Give yourself a vacation: Try not to write continuously and intensively unless absolutely necessary. If continuous writing makes you feel tired or stressed, give yourself a vacation to go for a walk, watch a movie, or read a book. In fact, relaxing can be more inspiring. For example, when I am writing a book, if I feel that I can't write anymore, I will invite three or five friends to have a hot pot, chat and relax, and then when I start writing again, the strokes will be much smoother.

5. Keep learning: No matter how good a person is, his knowledge is always limited, and when you feel less confident the more you write, you should think about whether your knowledge is not enough. At this time, it is advisable to read excellent articles or books by other authors to learn the writing skills and expressions of others. This will not only improve your writing skills, but also help you regain the joy and confidence of writing.

6. Adjust the writing environment: Most people have the problem of liking the new and hating the old, and sometimes, changing the environment will make the mood better. A few years ago, when a client invited me to write a book on investment + biography, I stayed in a hotel exclusively for a month. Writing in a hotel is a very special experience, and the results are very obvious.

7. Give yourself a reward: Everyone needs to be recognized and rewarded, we might as well set up a reward mechanism, and give ourselves a small reward for each completion of a writing goal. For example, if you want to write a 300,000-word novel, you can reward yourself with buying a dress and telling yourself that it is awesome when you finish 100,000 words. It doesn't have to be too much of a motivator, but it will help you stay motivated and motivated to write.

In conclusion, writing is a process that requires patience and perseverance. Even if you lose confidence temporarily, don't give up easily. If you find a way to deal with it, you will be able to make it less difficult, and if you stick with it, you will be able to write something that will please you and your readers.
