When: July 12, 2024
Weather: Sunny
Location: Gaogai Village, Wharf Town
Under the July sun, I stepped into the village of Gaogai, a wharf town, which was rejuvenated by the abundant harvest of lychees. In the Lyxiang Yuan Villa, the early morning sun has clothed this orchard with a golden coat, and the sweet fragrance of lychees and the laughter of tourists are intertwined into a vivid rural picture.
Walking into this vast lychee garden, you will see more than 600 lush lychee trees, hundreds of which have been adopted by tourists. These adopted trees not only serve as a bridge between tourists and the land, but also witness the joy of a good harvest. Mr. Hou adopted a lychee tree here the year before last and harvested more than 600 kilograms of lychees last year. This year, he brought more friends to pick and share the joy of the harvest.
Next to the villa complex, the busy figures of the villagers constitute a landscape. They may wear hats and carry burdens to carry the full load of lychees down from the mountains; or carefully picking, picking, and packing...... Everyone is doing their job and is very busy.
In the crowd, I met Mr. Li, a tourist from Hui'an. He was attracted by the report of the Haisi Business Daily, and this time he bought about 300 kilograms of lychees and returned with a full load.
During the packing process, I noticed that some of the fruits were selected and placed in a box on the side due to poor condition. Dai Biwen, the person in charge of Lixiangyuan Villa, told me that although the fruit in poor condition cannot be sold directly, it can be used to make lychee distilled spirit, which can be sold for 100 yuan per 500g, which is very popular in the market.
Due to the rainy days this year, the estimated output of 25,000 kilograms of lychees in Lixiangyuan Villa ended up to be just over 10,000 kilograms, but the market enthusiasm was even higher, and the price rose from 8 yuan per kilogram last year to 16 yuan. For this purpose, the villa hired more than 20 villagers to participate in the picking work.
The lychee trees in this collective lychee orchard were planted by the people's soldiers and local residents in the early 50s of the 20th century, and have a history of more than 70 years. In the past, the lychee orchard was contracted to others at an annual rent of 10,000 yuan. Today, Gaogai Village is revitalized through cooperatives and adoption models.
Today, Lychee Garden is a rural tourism resort integrating leisure, entertainment and sightseeing. The first thing that catches your eye as you enter the orchard from the Rainbow Windmill Walk is a free children's play area with slides and trampolines. On both sides of the brand-new cement road, there are romantic coffee houses, tea making areas around the hearth, and self-service barbecue Mongolia buns and other leisure facilities. In addition, the improvement of supporting facilities such as restaurants and KTV rooms provides tourists with a full range of leisure experiences.
The road to rural revitalization in Gaogai Village is getting wider and wider. Lin Jinlong, the captain of the village, said with confidence that in the future, the village will continue to revitalize idle resources, build agricultural product promotion centers, build characteristic homestays and camping bases, and inject more vitality and hope into the rural revitalization of Gaogai Village.
