Zhou Kun, born in 1977, is a professor at the School of Computer Science and Technology of Zhejiang University, a fellow of the International Computer Society (ACM Fellow), a fellow of the International Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE Fellow), and the director of the State Key Laboratory of Computer-Aided Design and Graphics of Zhejiang University.

From 1993 to 2002, he studied at the School of Computer Science of Zhejiang University with bachelor's and doctoral degrees, worked at Microsoft Research Asia from 2002 to 2008, and joined Zhejiang University full-time in 2008. He has been engaged in the research of computer graphics and virtual reality technology for a long time, and has published more than 90 papers in ACM and IEEE journals, and obtained more than 50 invention patents. He was selected as the Jiang Scholar Distinguished Professor of the Ministry of Education and the Youth Top Talent Program of the Central Organization Department, and was funded by the National Science Foundation for Outstanding Youth.

Professor Zhou Kun is/has served as the founding editor-in-chief of Visual Informatics, the editorial board of ACM TOG, IEEE TVCG, IEEE CG&A, Science in China and other journals, the editorial board advisor of IEEE Spectrum, and the scientific advisor of the Visual Computing Center of King Saudi University of Science and Technology. He is the director of the Virtual Reality Branch of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, the director of the Intelligent Graphics Committee of the Chinese Society of Image and Graphics, and the deputy director of the Intelligent Interaction Committee of the Chinese Engineering Intelligence Society. He has won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award, the China Youth Science and Technology Award, the MIT TR35 Award of MIT Technology Review, and the Chen Jiageng Youth Science Award.

The "Science Exploration Award" is a public welfare award funded by Tencent Foundation and led by scientists, and is currently one of the most expensive young scientific and technological talent funding programs in China. Adhering to the tenet of "facing the future, rewarding potential and encouraging exploration", the "Science Exploration Award" is aimed at basic science and cutting-edge technology fields, and rewards young scientific and technological workers aged 45 and below who work full-time in Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao.
