In the latest plot of "Do You Know If It Should Be Green Fat Red Skinny", Gu Tingye became a confidant of Zhao Zongquan of the imperial family and assisted Zhao Zongquan to become emperor.
Judging from the thirst in the previous plot not to let the palace daughter be blamed, the prototype of the emperor who did not have a son to inherit the throne in the play should be Song Renzong of the Song Dynasty.
The emperor in the play wrote a blood edict under the crisis and made Zhao Zongquan the crown prince. Soon after, the emperor died and Zhao Zongquan ascended the throne.
The historical Song Renzong was a very benevolent emperor, but unfortunately, all three of his sons died prematurely, and in the end there was no son to inherit the throne, so he had to pick the thirteenth son of Zhao Yun, the king of Pu, to pass the throne to him. Zhao Zongshi is the historical prototype of Zhao Zongquan in the play.
Zhao Zongquan in the play seems to be very timid, and after he received the blood edict appointing him as the crown prince, he did not dare to accept it at first, and then he was persuaded by Gu Tingye to accept the edict.
In the final analysis, if it were not for the sake of saving his life, he would never accept the position of prince, or even the emperor.
Zhao Zongquan was worried about the unjustified name, and also mentioned Song Taizong's "candlelight axe shadow", saying that Taizong was on the throne was a bit unjustified, and he was afraid that after he became emperor, he would end up with the same notoriety as Taizong.
In fact, his historical prototype Zhao Zongshi and the throne are very close. Zhao Zongshi was a great-grandson of Emperor Taizong of Song, Zhao Guangyi, and his father Zhao Yunrang the Prince of Pu was a cousin of Emperor Renzong of Song.
After the death of Emperor Zhenzong's eldest son Zhao You,Regent of Zhou, Emperor Zhenzong feared that he would not have a son to inherit the throne in the future, so he took Zhao Yunrang to the palace to raise him.
Later, Song Renzong was born, and Zhenzong had a son, so he sent someone to send Zhao Yunrang home.
But who knows, Song Renzong is actually a difficult heir, there is no way, Emperor Renzong had to choose an heir among the sons of the clan, choose to go, and finally choose Zhao Yunrang's son Zhao Zongshi.
In the second year of Jingyou (1035), Emperor Renzong of Song took the young Zhao Zongshi into the imperial palace to raise him. Four years later, Emperor Renzong of Song welcomed his second son, Zhao Xin the Prince of Yu.
Song Renzong, who had his own son, naturally no longer needed his adopted son Zhao Zongshi, so Zhao Zongshi was sent out of the palace by him.
Song Renzong
After four years, Zhao Xin died prematurely, and Song Renzong was grief-stricken. Song Renzong thought that if he could have some more sons, he did not immediately look for an heir, but in the end he did not have a son, so in his later years Song Renzong had to face the problem of finding a son of the clan to be crown prince.
In the seventh year of Jiayou (1062), Emperor Renzong of Song made Emperor Zhao the Crown Prince and renamed him Zhao Shu.
Similar to the situation in the play, Zhao Zongshi at first vigorously pushed away from being a prince, he wrote more than ten pieces of music and refused unsuccessfully, and finally the ministers lined up to persuade him, and he agreed to be a prince.
The following year, Emperor Renzong of Song died of illness, and Zhao Zongshi ascended the throne as emperor for Emperor Yingzong of Song.
Song Yingzong
Song Yingzong had only been emperor for five years, and since he ascended the throne, he had often fallen ill, his health was getting worse and worse every day, and he died of illness at the age of thirty-six.
According to historical records, Song Yingzong should be the only emperor in history who cheated the corpse, "Emperor Chu Yan drove, urgently summoned the prince, did not arrive, the emperor fu manual". Emperor Yingzong was dead, and the prince had not yet rushed over, so the ministers saw that the dead Emperor Yingzong's hand actually moved. The officials present to care for the corpse were frightened enough by the deception.
Everyone immediately reported the matter to the prime minister Han Qi and asked him to decide whether to summon the crown prince to ascend the throne first, or to wait and see, in case Emperor Yingzong was not dead.
After Han Qi learned of this, he still decided to let the crown prince ascend the throne first, saying that if Emperor Yingzong lived, it would be better to become the emperor.
In the end, Emperor Yingzong never moved again, and the crown prince Zhao Yan ascended the throne for Emperor Shenzong of Song.
