Since electrification, many companies have greater confidence in the fuel consumption of their products, and the new power structure combination of internal combustion engine, motor and battery can indeed reduce fuel consumption performance to a greater extent.

In the past era of fuel vehicles, the power structure was single, the internal combustion engine worked frequently in the low thermal efficiency range, and more fuel was required for acceleration, starting, U-turn and other actions, and the energy was seriously wasted.

In the era of electrification, these basic tasks are handed over to more efficient electric motors, and internal combustion engines can operate in the high thermal efficiency range, effectively reducing fuel consumption.

Taking 100,000-level fuel vehicles as an example, the comprehensive fuel consumption of Lavida in the era of fuel vehicles is about 7L-8L.

However, the hybrid models after electrification, such as Fengyun A8, Galaxy L6, and Qin PLUS, have a comprehensive fuel consumption of about 4L-5L, saving about 40% of energy.

Fuel consumption has obviously become an important topic for Chinese brands to overtake foreign brands.

When many companies advertise, they will come up with lower fuel consumption to attract consumers, whether it is testing or using, they will take low energy consumption as the core selling point.

But I rarely see anyone doing high-speed cruise tests.

The high-speed mentioned here is the real sense of the high-speed, in the domestic speed limit of 120km/h, the normal use habit is 120km/h speed.

The normal use scenario is to follow the car normally in the urban area, overtake normally on the ring road, and cruise at a constant speed of 120km/h at a normal high-speed.

Many people test hybrid models, the average speed of high speed will be far lower than the speed of daily use, if a fuel car let go of the hand, the speed can run to 120Km/h, but the speed of hybrid models, basically will be controlled at 100Km or even lower.

Why?

Because of the characteristics of the hybrid, the fuel economy will no longer exist at speeds of 90 km or 100 km/h.

The design concept of most hybrid systems is biased towards economic performance, which can not only reduce daily fuel consumption performance, enhance the competitiveness of publicity, but also reduce product pricing and improve the competitiveness of the sales side.

At present, many mainstream and large-selling hybrid systems have a 1.5L displacement.

At a speed of 120 km/h, the engine is basically a heavy-load vehicle, and if the battery is in a state of power loss, on the one hand, the 1.5-liter internal combustion engine needs to directly drive the vehicle, and on the other hand, it is necessary to ensure that the power of the battery pack does not continue to decline.

The design concept of hybrid internal combustion engines is generally small bore and long stroke, and the design method of this engine has an obvious feature, that is, small horsepower and low power.

The goal is to sacrifice power for economic performance.

This also makes the hybrid engine have the problem of weak power at 120 km/h, and in order to strengthen this problem, the electric motor will be added to the drive system at high speed to enhance the power performance.

It is also bound to increase the operating pressure of the internal combustion engine, as the motor consumes further electricity.

In a nutshell, at a speed of 120km/h, the load of the internal combustion engine will increase fuel consumption, which is more fuel-efficient than the internal combustion engine of the same displacement, after all, the internal combustion engine is the only power source, and the weight of the hybrid model itself is about 20% heavier than that of a fuel vehicle of the same size.

Of course, the only weakness of the hybrid is the high-speed road conditions.

The fuel consumption advantage is very obvious in the ring road and urban use within 90km per hour, especially at a speed of about 60km per hour, the fuel consumption performance is very strong.

From the perspective of daily use, the proportion of high-speed vehicles for the vast majority of users is only 30% or even lower, and more people are actually concerned about the speed performance within 90km/h.

The hybrid system has been determined that the fuel consumption performance is extremely advantageous under comprehensive road conditions, and the fuel consumption shortcomings on the highway cannot be overcome at present, and the core key is that the hybrid system itself still relies on the internal combustion engine.

Pure internal combustion engines run at high speeds, and compared to hybrid engines, which need to drag heavier bodies and need to charge battery packs, they are less stressful and naturally more fuel-efficient.
