Wheat dry hot wind disaster risk warning

author:Palm Bayannur

The Meteorological Bureau of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region jointly issued a disaster risk warning for wheat dry and hot wind at 18:00 on June 25, 2024:

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Observatory of the Autonomous Region, it is expected that from June 26 to June 29, there will be high temperature weather of 35 °C and above in the west-west and north-north, north-northwest and southeast, and the maximum temperature in some areas of the west-west can reach more than 37 °C, and the local temperature can reach more than 40 °C.

According to the intelligent grid forecast data in the next 7 days, combined with the wheat dry and hot wind disaster indicators, wheat dry and hot wind disasters will occur in the Hetao irrigation area and some areas in the south-east of the city in the next 4 days, among which, on June 26, the southern part of Bayannur City, the central and southern parts of Chifeng City, and the north-central area of Tongliao City are low-risk areas of dry and hot wind disasters. From June 27th to 29th, some areas in the south-eastern part of our region were low-risk areas of hot and dry wind disasters (Figure 1). At present, spring wheat is in the flowering to milk maturity stage in most agricultural areas of our region, and some areas of Hetao irrigation area have entered the milk maturity stage, and the dry and hot wind will lead to the shortening of the grain filling period and the decrease of 1000-grain weight, which will affect the yield of spring wheat, and the plots with poor moisture will have a greater impact.

Preventive measures: Establish farmland shelterbelts, reduce wind speed, reduce temperature, increase relative humidity, reduce ground water evaporation, and improve soil water content. Do a good job in the construction of farmland water conservancy infrastructure for irrigation (irrigation, sprinkler irrigation). Before the arrival of hot and dry wind, sufficient grouting water should be poured in time to improve the soil field climate, increase soil moisture, and effectively resist hot and dry wind. Combined with wheat "one spray and three prevention", spray the chemical agent potassium dihydrogen phosphate, improve the phosphorus and potassium content in wheat straw, enhance the ability to resist dry and hot wind, and spray 0.2~0.5% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution once in wheat booting, heading and flowering stages. For plots with sprinkler irrigation conditions, open the sprinkler irrigation equipment and spray for 10-30 minutes when the hot and dry air comes, which can effectively reduce the temperature of the air and increase the humidity of the air, resist the harm of hot and dry air, and reduce yield loss.
