At present, the Party has united and led the people of all ethnic groups across the country to embark on a new journey of building a modern socialist country in an all-round way, and the construction of spiritual civilization has also entered a new historical stage of upholding integrity, innovating, deepening and expanding, and overall sublimation. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: "We must continue to persevere and consistently do a good job in the construction of socialist spiritual civilization, and provide a strong ideological guarantee, strong spiritual strength and rich moral nourishment for the people of all ethnic groups across the country to continue to move forward." So, on the new journey, how can we continue to do a good job and let the building of spiritual civilization exert greater power? Today, we would like to share with you this issue.
Attaching importance to the coordinated development of material civilization and spiritual civilization, and paying attention to the enrichment of the people's spiritual world and the all-round development of people, is an important content of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. In the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping clearly pointed out that the modernization of material civilization and spiritual civilization is one of the five major characteristics of Chinese modernization, and material and spiritual prosperity are the fundamental requirements of socialist modernization. The report regards "enriching the people's spiritual world" as one of the essential requirements of Chinese-style modernization, and puts forward new and higher requirements for the construction of spiritual civilization on the new journey from the height of "essential requirements". To this end, we must put the building of socialist spiritual civilization in a more prominent position, and use the building of spiritual civilization at a higher level to provide a more powerful spiritual force for promoting Chinese-style modernization and realizing the building of a strong country and national rejuvenation.
1. Promote the coordinated development of the "two civilizations" with a higher level of spiritual civilization building
General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that it is necessary to "correctly handle the relationship between material civilization and spiritual civilization from a dialectical, comprehensive and balanced viewpoint." The "balance viewpoint" is naturally aimed at the imbalance between material civilization (construction) and spiritual civilization construction in concrete practice. That is, with the tremendous development of reform and opening up over the past 40 years and a great improvement in material living standards, "hundreds of millions of people on the mainland have created a world miracle in the development of material civilization and have also created fruitful results in the development of spiritual civilization." However, there is still a big gap between the fruitful achievements of the development of spiritual civilization and the world miracle of the development of material civilization. In particular, compared with the people's growing needs for a better life, the problem of unbalanced and inadequate development has become increasingly prominent, and the problems of uncoordinated development, unsustainable development and uneven distribution of development results have become more prominent. On this basis, if we do not strengthen the building of spiritual civilization and build a higher level of spiritual civilization, the achievements in the building of material civilization will not be manifested, and socialist modernization may still be undermined and take a detour.
Therefore, it can be said that the more socialist modernization develops, the more prominent the status and role of the building of spiritual civilization will be. If it is said that before this, it was the rapid advancement of the construction of material civilization that provided an important foundation for the construction of spiritual civilization, then in the new era and new journey, it is all the more necessary to keep pace with spiritual civilization and material civilization, and it is all the more necessary to give full play to the powerful spiritual power of spiritual civilization to promote the overall leap and steady progress of the cause of socialist modernization.
To this end, on the one hand, it is necessary to focus on the central task, reflect reality, promote the formation of ideological concepts, spiritual outlook, civilized customs, and behavioral norms that meet the requirements of the new era, and provide spiritual motivation and ideological guidance for the building of material civilization with the building of a higher level of spiritual civilization. On the other hand, it is also necessary to give prominence to the key points and actively promote the high-level development of the building of spiritual civilization; we must not only catch up with the pace of the building of material civilization, but also "stand in the forefront of the times and lead the trend," earnestly grasp all the tasks of the building of the spiritual civilization, give full play to the greatest power of the building of the spiritual civilization, regard the building of the spiritual civilization as the key to the overall situation, open up a new situation in the midst of changes, and turn the crisis into a victorious situation, so as to provide important spiritual, intellectual, and talent support for building a modern socialist country in an all-round way.
2. Enhance the consciousness and self-confidence of taking the Chinese path of modernization with a high degree of spiritual civilization
In the new era and on the new journey, the role and significance of the building of spiritual civilization are more extensive and profound than before. Only by building a high degree of spiritual civilization commensurate with the achievements of material civilization will the country's material and spiritual strength be strengthened and the material and spiritual lives of the people of all nationalities throughout the country will be improved, will the Chinese-style modernization path become more feasible and feasible, and will it be possible to truly show its unique advantages.
Road self-confidence, in the final analysis, is the self-confidence of spiritual civilization, the self-confidence of the value and vitality of the new form of human spiritual civilization shaped by a high degree of spiritual civilization, and the self-confidence of the direction of civilization development. We must more firmly and consciously promote the building of socialist spiritual civilization, promote cultural self-confidence and self-reliance, adhere to the path of socialist cultural development with Chinese characteristics, create new glories of socialist culture, form in the whole society ideological concepts, spiritual outlook, civilization and customs, and behavioral norms that are compatible with the construction of a great modern socialist country, and form an international discourse power that matches the mainland's comprehensive national strength and international status. Only by building a high degree of spiritual civilization and fully demonstrating the practical value and future significance of the new form of human spiritual civilization can we continuously enhance our consciousness and self-confidence in taking the path of Chinese-style modernization.
3. With the new form of human spiritual civilization, we will show the world the unique charm of Chinese modernization
The unique charm of Chinese modernization is first embodied in the development and progress of material civilization. That is, it took us a few decades to complete the industrialization process that developed countries have gone through for hundreds of years, and have created a rich material civilization. If economic hard power is a kind of push power, which has a certain oppressive nature, then cultural soft power is a kind of pull power, which has an intrinsic attraction. Therefore, the unique charm of Chinese-style modernization is more reflected in the rise of a new form of spiritual civilization, and China should not only provide high-quality material products to the world, but also provide the world with excellent and commendable spiritual products and forms of civilization.
The building of socialist spiritual civilization is a sufficient and necessary condition and an integral part of Chinese-style modernization, the foundation of self-confidence in the system, path, culture, theory and history, the realm and vision to be achieved by Chinese-style modernization, and the charm of highlighting the true significance of Chinese-style modernization. We should not only show the world the brilliant material achievements of Chinese-style modernization, but more importantly, show the spiritual outlook and self-confidence of contemporary Chinese people on the road of Chinese-style modernization, and show the value choice and direction guidance of the new form of human spiritual civilization created and developed by Chinese-style modernization. In the process of deepening exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, we should build a community with a shared future for mankind with common prosperity, sublimate the socialist spiritual civilization created by the Chinese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of China into a new form of human spiritual civilization, and then demonstrate the unique charm and overall value of Chinese-style modernization from the inside out, from near and far.
In short, Chinese-style modernization is the modernization of material civilization and spiritual civilization in harmony. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: "Only by standing at the forefront of the times and leading the trend can the construction of spiritual civilization exert greater power." To this end, we must stand at the forefront of the times, lead the trend, put the construction of spiritual civilization in a more prominent position, and provide more active spiritual strength for Chinese-style modernization with a higher level of spiritual civilization construction.
