Lynk & Co's first pure electric car, anti-"involution" with original design

Text/Pu Zhenyu

On June 29, the reporter saw in the offline store of Lynk & Co that Lynk & Co's first mass-produced pure electric model Lynk & Co Z10 has been displayed in the store, and the store staff told reporters that the car is initially planned to be released in the third quarter and delivered as soon as possible after the listing. Recently, the Lynk & Co Z10 made its world debut in Gothenburg, Sweden, and is the production car that most restores the elements of Lynk & Co's The Next Day concept.

For the Lynk & Co Z10, the first question from the outside world is, does the current extremely involuted pure electric market still need another new car? According to incomplete statistics from the Economic Observer, in 2024, more than 100 new energy vehicles have been launched or are planned to be listed, of which more than two-thirds are pure electric models. At the same time, the price war in the new energy vehicle market, especially in the pure electric market, is also intensifying.

During this year's Beijing Auto Show, Lei Jun, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi Group, once lamented that he was desperate after visiting the auto show. "If you go to every car factory, they have made a series of cars, and a few good cars are enough, so why do you need so many homogeneous cars? What are you doing here, you're completely relying on Meng. He said.

Lynk & Co sees this homogeneous involution as an opportunity for itself to enter the pure electric market. "The homogenization of the pure electric market is serious, especially in the styling design...... After the material abundance, everyone wants to buy something with personality, and the core of personality lies in design, which is the soul of Lynk & Co. Lin Jie, senior vice president of Geely Automobile Group and general manager of Lynk & Co Automobile Sales Company, recently told the Economic Observer and other media.

"Design is the soul of Lynk & Co"

According to a survey provided by Lynk & Co, nearly 60% of Lynk & Co's existing users are looking forward to Lynk & Co pure electric vehicles, and 40% choose pure electric vehicles when they add new purchases. Lynk & Co hopes that the Lynk & Co Z10 can become a benchmark product in its market segment.

Lin Jie said that the existing product line of Lynk & Co cannot fully meet the needs of current users, and users hope to have a pure electric product that is more in line with the trend of the times and can meet performance requirements without losing comfort. The demand for the entire pure electric market is still very large, and some companies are gradually withdrawing, and the competition is not as fierce as imagined. There are many small pure electric models on the market, and pure electric SUVs are gradually increasing, but the Lynk & Co Z10 is positioned as a new luxury smart flagship sedan, taking into account performance and comfort, which is a particularly good choice for users.

Lynk & Co is a brand that is late to the EV market, but Stefan Rosén, president of the Lynk & Co Design Center, believes that there are benefits to being late. "There's an inherent expectation that an electric car should have a cleaner shape, like no grille, so that the whole line will be smoother. Everybody thinks so, so as a result, all the electric cars on the market are pretty much the same. We waited a while before we decided to launch an all-electric vehicle, which is a big advantage. He said.

Stefan Rosén says: "Electric cars don't need an engine, which eliminates the need for cooling and the space required for the engine, which allows us to adjust the proportions of the car and make the interior more space. In addition, because the battery is installed, the car will be raised slightly. In general, the adjustments made by BEVs are beneficial to users. ”

At present, Geely's pure electric brand Zeekr, after the launch of the Lynk & Co Z10, how to distinguish between Lynk & Co and Zeekr has become another focus of attention from the outside world.

In response, Lin Jie said that ZEEKR and Lynk & Co pure electric are both from SEA's vast architecture, have the same safety and performance genes, and can cooperate with the group's superior car-making resources. However, there are four differences between the two, one is the different brand positioning, the second is the different crowd positioning, the third is the different brand style, and the fourth is the different user characteristics.

Lin Jie also revealed that Lynk & Co has built 20 Lynk & Co direct sales teams in first- and second-tier cities. This year, Lynk & Co will establish delivery centers in these cities, and in the future, Lynk & Co's channels will be complex, with direct sales and distribution agents. For third-, fourth- and fifth-tier cities, Lynk & Co did not specifically open a new energy channel, but chose a mixed channel.

"Lynk & Co-style" pure electric concept

The letter Z of the Lynk & Co Z10 is derived from ZERO and represents Lynk & Co's new pure electric concept. Zeal-Passion, Enjoy, Responsibility, Original, the four words correspond to the four senses of Lynk & Co's pure electric sequence: driving sense, fun sense, sense of safety and sense of quality.

Based on the innovative concept of Aerodramatic, the Lynk & Co Z10 brings dramatic tension through extreme aerodynamic design, and the interior design of the Lynk & Co Z10 is inspired by the space starship, aiming to create a more tomorrowlike future space. The sci-fi style supercar instrument adopts a slim and narrow 12.3:1 ultra-long horizontal screen, and the information display is clear at a glance; The surface material supports anti-glare, anti-reflection, and anti-fingerprint, which is both futuristic and practical. In addition, the Lynk & Co Z10 maintains the brand's usual style in terms of refined style.

It is worth noting that the Lynk & Co Z10 has the only rear seats in its class that have ventilation, heating and massage functions, with a middle armrest area of 1700cm² and a smart touch screen to easily adjust the seat function. Immersive Atmos with Harman Kardon 23-speaker layout, 7.1.4 channels, Quantum Logic Immersion 3D surround sound support, and Dolby-named WANOS Atmos technology.

In terms of performance control, the Lynk & Co Z10 is based on 400V and 800V power platforms, with a maximum pure electric range of up to 800+ KM, and a high-performance 800V architecture to provide rapid energy replenishment for the vehicle, and the cruising range can be increased by 573km after 15 minutes of charging. With the strongest dual-silicon carbide high-performance electric drive in its class, the Lynk & Co Z10 accelerates from zero to 100 in 3.5 seconds.

In terms of safety, based on the global safety concept, the Lynk & Co Z10 not only meets the highest safety standards in China and Europe, but also has a high-strength body, with a high-strength steel and aluminum ratio of 84.65%, and a torsional rigidity of 45,500N·m/deg, which is 8% higher than that of a million-level flagship luxury car.

In terms of intelligent cockpit, Lynk & Co Z10 aims to create a futuristic fully immersive intelligent cockpit, and will be equipped with the most powerful chip in history, with 1.8 times the CPU computing power of the 8295 chip, which will maximize the intelligent interaction of LYNK Flyme Auto, realize powerful 3D rendering, and bring users an unprecedented immersive cockpit experience.

In terms of intelligent driving, the Lynk & Co Z10 will use high-end intelligent driving solutions, equipped with NVIDIA Orin-X chips, and top perception hardware such as lidar by integrating Geely Group's intelligent driving R&D resources, to create a truly user-friendly and safe intelligent driving solution. The scheme includes high-speed NOA and urban no-map NOA that are frequently used by users, and will be released one after another.
