Pakistan and Sweden held the 18th round of bilateral political consultations in Islamabad, Pakistan, on June 26 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Pakistani side was led by Ambassador Shavkat Ali Khan, Deputy Secretary for European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, and led by Ambassador Dag Jurin-Danfelter, Director General and Director of the Global Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden. The two sides reviewed various aspects of bilateral cooperation, including political relations, trade and investment, education and people-to-people exchanges.
The two sides expressed satisfaction with the development of relations between Pakistan and Sweden and agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and establish a broad range of relations based on strong economic cooperation.
The Swedish side also briefed the Pakistani side on the measures taken to promote interreligious harmony in Sweden. The two sides also discussed important regional and global developments. The two sides agreed to coordinate on all issues of common interest in multilateral forums, including the United Nations and the European Union.
Ambassador Dag Julin-Danfeldt also met with Foreign Minister Mohammed Cyrus Sajjad Qazi for an exchange of views on strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Sweden.
