I think similar questions plague many young people today who want to achieve success sooner rather than later, and this question starts with the basic needs of people.
Friends who have studied marketing should have heard of "Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory", which is the motivation theory of psychology, which includes five kinds of needs: physiology, safety, social, respect, and self-actualization.

It is not difficult to see from the interpretation of the pyramid model above that people need motivation to achieve certain needs, and some needs take precedence over others. The highest level of demand at the top of the pyramid is self-actualization (spiritual needs), and at the bottom is physiological (material needs).
This is also why some rich people and celebrities are keen to participate in charity activities, because people can never achieve true satisfaction in materials. When you have a car and want to get a house, when you have a house, you want all kinds of luxury goods, even yachts and planes. On the road to the pursuit of materials, materials are always in front of psychological needs, and people will continue to suffer and be bored in an insatiable state.
Some will say that spiritual pursuits are equally endless and unsatisfied. But different from the material uncontrollability (it takes good luck, strength, etc. to become rich), spiritual pursuits can be pursued anytime and anywhere, not controlled by time and space, objective factors, even if we have limited ability, we can also set small goals at each stage, always improve ourselves, and get happy satisfaction in breaking through ourselves.
The great physicist Albert Einstein often discussed scholarship with people in a disheveled manner, but invented the special theory of relativity that shocked the world; Jobs always wore a simple T-shirt + jeans at the press conference and talked about new products, but created a generation of beautiful Apple mobile phones; and then to the recently popular Network after the 90s Peking University professor "Wei Shen" only took a bottle of mineral water and steamed buns to class, but taught one mathematical high-quality student after another.
Are they really so poor in their abilities that they can't even reach the material level of ordinary people?
It seems to me that it is because they have found the path of self-realization, slept and forgotten to eat in the world of spiritual prosperity, and have been greatly satisfied in the benefit and recognition of spiritual achievements; the material needs outside the body will only consume too much energy and short life, and it is less important to return to the bottom needs.
The reason why contemporary people are living more and more painfully is not that the material living standards are getting worse and worse, on the contrary, most people do not have to suffer from hunger as before, and then they can receive the state minimum guarantee to enjoy poverty alleviation treatment; but today, the theory of money alone, society requires us to be young and promising, 30 years old to marry and have children, have a car and a house, and an annual salary of at least two or three hundred thousand to be considered a successful initial entry threshold.
As everyone knows, this so-called material success is so small in the vast universe and the long river of history that it will eventually disappear. What can really be passed down through the ages are famous songs and poems that inspire people spiritually, or philosophers who can lead the confused world forward after death.
