There is a well-known saying in WeiXian that says that the people of Weixian have three meals a day, called "early porridge, afternoon cake, night paste and yam". Old Wei County people must eat cakes at noon, I remember when I was a child, my mother went to the table at noon, it is said that eating a table is definitely better than usual, but my mother must make a cake to eat at night, in my mother's words, do not eat this cake, always feel that the stomach is not real, just like not how to eat, this is the position of the staple food of cake in the hearts of Wei County people.

The cakes in Weixian are actually caused by our unique geographical environment. In the past, the land in Weixian was dry and barren, really relying on the sky to eat, no water land is dry land, and the cake-making millet happens to be drought-tolerant, and the yield is still quite high, so the hometown people love to grow this crop. In fact, there is another reason, resulting in the old Wei County people love to eat cakes, to borrow a proverb can be clear, it is said that "thirty miles of noodles forty miles of cake, ten miles of soba noodles hungry waist", probably means that eating noodles can walk thirty miles, eat cakes can rush forty miles, and eat buckwheat noodles to walk ten miles will be hungry, and can't walk like a broken waist. Therefore, another reason why people in Weixian love cakes is to resist hunger. Don't underestimate this reason, in the old days, eating enough was happiness, and fullness was really important.

Making cakes is actually super simple, first of all, the shell of the rice is removed, the thing obtained is called "yellow rice", and then grind it into noodles, which is the raw material of the cake, yellow rice noodles.
