The countdown to the opening of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games has entered 50 days, the footsteps of the Winter Olympic Games are getting closer and closer, and the enthusiasm of the city of Shanghai to promote ice and snow sports is high. The first professional curling venue in the central city of Shanghai, located in the Xuhui District Youth Sports School on Weiyu Road on Huajing Road, Where Shanghai referee Wang Jue, who was selected for the list of referees for curling events at the Beijing Winter Olympics, teaches curling knowledge and skills every week.
On December 16th, this venue with a deep imprint of ice and snow sports held the Xuhui District Youth Ice and Snow Carnival and the opening ceremony of the Xuhui District Ice and Snow Association. As the first central urban area in Shencheng to carry out ice and snow projects, Xuhui District in the southwest corner of downtown Shanghai took the lead in establishing a district-level ice and snow association in Shencheng. In the past ten years, how has Xuhui District popularized and promoted ice and snow sports, and how has it worked hard to build a "bridgehead" for ice and snow sports in Shanghai?
To popularize ice and snow sports, there must be ice rinks, which is a prerequisite. Xuhui District has been promoting curling since 2012, but there was no professional curling training ground in the city center at that time, and Xuhui's curling athletes had to "travel a long distance" to the venues of Songjiang University Town to train. In March 2016, the curling hall of Xuhui District Youth Sports School was completed and put into use, and the popularization of ice and snow sports and the cultivation of talents had its own "base". The school was also awarded the Shanghai Curling Elite Base, which provides more opportunities for cultivating young people's curling skills and tapping reserve talents in curling projects.
With the continuous advancement of the national strategy of "Expanding the West and Expanding the East of the North Ice Exhibition", Xuhui District strives to build a "bridgehead" for ice and snow sports in Shanghai, taking the curling project as an example, and the harvest is very fruitful. Wang Jue, curling coach of Xuhui District Youth And Junior Sports School, will go to the Beijing Winter Olympics in February next year as a referee. With the joint efforts of many curling grassroots coaches, there are more than 50 people in the Xuhui Youth Curling Team, and more than 1,000 people participate in the curling project experience learning every year.
Not surprisingly, Xuhui players are also expected to appear at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Through cross-border cross-sports selection, Xuhui District trained and transported track and field athletes to transfer women's snowmobile events, and she won the first gold medal in women's single snowmobiles for Chinese snow teams at the 2019-2020 International Snowmobile Federation Women's Singles Snowmobile Series, and won the first gold medal in the history of the Shanghai Winter Games at the 14th National Winter Games in 2019. In addition, Shen Yanmiao and Gong Yuxin of trampoline transfer snowboarding, and Ding Yang of rowing to cross-country skiing, are also transported from Xuhui District. At present, Ying Qing and other players are actively preparing for the Winter Olympics.
At the ceremony site, the Youth Ice and Snow Carnival in Xuhui District was held simultaneously. With the theme of welcoming the Beijing Winter Olympics, the carnival set up six kinds of equipment and facilities for simulating ice and snow projects, such as ice hockey shooting, speed skating training board, phyllathlon VR shooting, table hockey, dryland ice hockey, dryland curling, etc., and opened the real ice teaching experience of the curling hall, aiming to promote ice and snow sports culture, publicize the knowledge of ice and snow projects, and provide opportunities for young people to experience ice and snow projects.
On the occasion of the 50-day countdown to the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, Xuhui Postal Company took "Sports on Stamps" as the theme, built the "Xuhui Sports Flash Theme Post Office" at the carnival event site, and through the sports series of themed stamp publicity and the "Message to the Winter Olympics" statement postcard activities, let the majority of young people "use mail as the medium" to convey good wishes, pass on sports culture, stimulate youth sports enthusiasm, and carry forward the Olympic spirit.
In the future, Xuhui District will further promote the development of ice and snow sports through the Xuhui District Ice and Snow Association, so that more people can feel the joy of ice and snow sports.
