The Qing Dynasty's edict to relocate the sea, which had exhausted its conscience, led to the people in the coastal areas of Guangdong Province being forced to move away from their hometowns

When it comes to Guangdong, everyone must first feel that the most economically developed place in the country, there is Dongguan, which is known as the world's foundry, and Guangzhou and Shenzhen, which are first-tier cities. But the history of Guangdong, do you know? Historically, Guangdong Province was the place where major catastrophes occurred.

According to historical records, Guangdong Province has suffered two major disasters since the Qing Dynasty. Presumably some friends must have heard the old people in the village talk about it, which was an edict issued during the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty in order to prevent the inland people from contacting the coastal anti-Qing army. It was also this edict that completely offended the Cantonese people and accelerated the speed of the fall of the Manchu Qing!

The Qing Dynasty's edict to relocate the sea, which had exhausted its conscience, led to the people in the coastal areas of Guangdong Province being forced to move away from their hometowns

Relocation order

In the first year of the Kangxi Dynasty of the Qing Dynasty, Aobai, who was an assistant minister, ordered all residents in Shandong up to the coastal areas of Guangdong Province to move inland for fifty miles, and also forbade merchants and civilian ships to go to the sea to trade and make a living without permission. On the way, because of dragging their families and mouths and hunger, coupled with the long journey, the people suffered heavy casualties, all the way to the graves without owners, orphans and widows flocked to a tragic situation, resulting in the tragic death of most of the people in other places!

Fifty miles after the inward migration, a short wall was built, a boundary monument was erected, and troops were sent to guard it, creating a large coastal uninhabited area from Liaodong to Guangdong, and those who left the boundary died. Later, according to the total population of a city and a county in the southeast coastal area at that time and the population after the internal migration, some literati made statistics, and found that the population of the towns in the coastal belt lost nearly half during the migration to the sea, which was the most conscienceless "relocation order" in history!

The order to move the sea was promulgated in the eighteenth year of Shunzhi and terminated in the twenty-second year of the Kangxi Dynasty. It was this "sea relocation order" that destroyed the achievements of the ancestors in navigation over the centuries, and since then the navigation trade has plummeted and cannot be restored for a long time.

Peace in the world is not easy to come by, I hope that friends cherish the present, people-oriented, peace is precious, in order to go further, fly higher!
