He was admitted to the ICU in critical condition, during which he suffered frequent and severe coughing, spasms and phlegm blockage, difficulty speaking, and almost completely lost his ability to communicate. A week after receiving treatment in the ICU, Cai Lei's physical condition improved and he was transferred to a general ward, but his standing and walking condition was significantly worse than before he became ill.
