Volvo has postponed the launch of the EX30 model due to the U.S. government's tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, which were originally planned to go on sale this fall but are now scheduled to be postponed to 2025. At the same time, the EX30 model will be exported to the U.S. market and will be transferred from the Zhangjiakou plant to the Belgian plant next year to avoid paying taxes that will drive down profit margins.

According to Volvo's chief commercial officer, Bjorn Annwall, in an interview: "We have decided to hold off on listing because there are new tariffs in the US and the EU may also introduce tariffs. Our American customers were expecting to receive the car this fall, but sadly, they won't receive it until next year. ”

According to overseas media, the transfer of production to Belgium will also help Volvo avoid the new tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles that will take effect in Europe on July 4. So far, China has also started negotiations with the European Union on import tariffs on electric vehicles, and if the situation cannot be eased, Volvo will also have to bear new tariffs for a year. The new tariffs are not the main factor affecting the launch of the EX30 model, and two weeks ago, the brand officially said that due to a software error that may cause the speedometer to not work properly, all EX30 series models produced by the brand have also started a recall.
