June 24-30 is the National Elderly Health Publicity Week, in order to let more families of the elderly with dementia understand non-drug intervention therapy and learn more ways to release their inner pressure and negative emotions, Hongkou District Rainbow Bay Elderly Welfare Institute launched a mutual aid association activity for the families of the elderly with dementia with the theme of "Art Healing".
Teacher Huang Danying from the China Art Therapy Alliance and R&D Center was invited to lead the elderly and their families to experience a variety of art healing methods such as singing bowl therapy, aromatherapy, music therapy, etc., and used the original combination of Chinese and Western dance therapy system to encourage the elderly and their families to dance to music. The elderly family members paired up in pairs and danced to the music, immersing themselves in the music and releasing their inner stress.
"Send you a little red flower", such an ordinary action, is endowed with a unique sense of ritual and meaning in music healing. Grandma Bian, an elder, said: "The whole experience is very relaxing, the body and mind are stretched, listening to the music, the pressure in my heart is instantly gone, and I fall asleep with the music." In the process of art therapy, the family members of the elderly communicated with each other, shared their experiences, and gained friendship and happiness.
