Recently, at a seminar marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, Ambassador Lu Shaye gave a lesson to many Western media present on the Taiwan Strait issue.

During the seminar, French reporters asked Ambassador Lu Shaye three times about Sino-French relations. The second question is, how can the bilateral relationship be stable and successful in the next 60 years?
In this regard, Ambassador Lu answered from three key points: first, to establish a correct understanding of China; the second is to adhere to openness and cooperation; The third is to maintain mutual respect. In his remarks on the last issue, "mutual respect", Ambassador Lu mentioned the Taiwan issue, which is the most sensitive issue for China.
Ambassador Lu said that the so-called mutual respect should be embodied in two aspects, one is respect for sovereignty and the other is respect for territorial integrity. However, at present, Western countries still have a vague understanding of China's Taiwan issue, believing that Taiwan is to China what Corsica is to France.
The Corsica region mentioned by Ambassador Lu is an island region of France, and its relations with France and China's relations with Taiwan are completely different from those of the same nature. Corsica is an island with its own unique culture and history. In 1768, under the Treaty of Versailles, France purchased sovereignty over Corsica from the Republic of Genoa, and from then on, Corsica became part of France.
In this regard, Ambassador Lu stressed that Taiwan is different from China, and Taiwan has never been a country, but has always been China's territory. At present, certain "Taiwan independence" forces are clamoring for independence in order to split a sovereign state, which is not in accordance with the provisions of international law.

In addition, Ambassador Lu also restated China's history to the Western media, saying that Taiwan's partition is a problem left over from the mainland's civil war in the 40s of the last century, and should not affect China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and from this point of view, China's civil war is indeed not over.
Ambassador Lu's term "civil war" can be said to have shocked the West again, but in fact, from a legal point of view, it does make sense, but this civil war has continued in the form of cross-strait confrontation for so many years.
It has to be said that Ambassador Lu, as China's ambassador to foreign countries, is very familiar with the Western discourse system, and the current use of the term "civil war" can be said to have shocked the entire West again, and also provided a new perspective for the international community to understand the Taiwan issue. Under the framework of international law, which is respected by the West, the territorial integrity of sovereign states is a universally recognized and respected principle. Therefore, from China's point of view, the settlement of the Taiwan issue is, in the final analysis, China's defense of national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the Western society should respect this.
After defining the relationship between Taiwan and China, Ambassador Lu also pointed his sword at the Lai Ching-te administration, saying that the "regime" in his hands was in fact a rebel regime under China's territory, and that China had the right to expel it at any time, but it did so out of concern for the Taiwan compatriots and did not use force.
Finally, Ambassador Lu also reiterated that there is only one future for Taiwan, which is to return to the motherland, and if the mainland cannot recover it by peaceful means, it will choose non-peaceful means. If certain forces are unwilling to follow the road of "one country, two systems," then they will choose "one country, one system." In short, the outcome of Taiwan has been decided, and it will never be separated from China.

It can be said that Ambassador Lu's remarks are a direct warning to the "Taiwan independence" forces Lai Ching-te authorities, urging them to clearly understand the facts, that is, the so-called Lai Ching-te authorities are just China's rebellious ministers and thieves, and they do not have any legitimate scientific research, and if the West blindly interprets the Taiwan issue from Lai Ching-de's point of view, it is tantamount to colluding with anti-thief elements.
