A family of four was admitted to the ICU

Xiao Peng's family is from Kelang Village, Caochang Town, Miyi County, Panzhihua City. According to him, on June 19, Xiao Peng's mother and younger brother went to the mountains not far from their home to pick mushrooms and mistakenly brought back the poisonous Amanita mushroom. At noon that day, Xiao Peng's grandfather came to visit relatives, and among the meals we ate together, there were mushrooms picked from the mountains. "No one would have thought that my grandfather, father, mother, and brother would all be poisoned."

In the early morning of the 20th, the four people felt signs of poisoning and immediately went to the Miyi County People's Hospital, and the doctor immediately sent them to the rescue room for gastric lavage and infusion rescue after understanding the situation. After that, the four were admitted to the ICU for hemodialysis treatment.

On the 21st, Xiao Peng's grandfather and younger brother became seriously ill, and the doctor arranged to transfer them to Panzhihua Central Hospital. On the 22nd, Xiao Peng's parents were also transferred to Panzhihua Central Hospital due to the aggravation of their condition. On the evening of the 23rd, Xiao Peng's parents and younger brother were slightly stabilized and transferred to the comprehensive ICU to continue dialysis treatment. On the 24th, my grandfather was transferred to the comprehensive ICU for treatment. "In just a few days, 6 critical illness notices were issued in a row."

Four people were diagnosed with mushroom poisoning

According to the data, the Amanita genus contains about 600 species of umbellifera, including some of the most poisonous mushrooms known in the world.

Yunnan CDC once issued a document saying that Amanita phalloides is a type of toadstool with the highest fatality rate in Yunnan and even the whole country, and 90% of the deaths caused by poisoning by amanita phalloides are caused by Amanita phalloides by mistake.

According to the critical illness notice issued by Panzhihua Central Hospital, Xiao Peng's parents, younger brother, and grandfather were all diagnosed with mushroom poisoning (Bailuo umbrella). Four people developed symptoms such as liver damage, acute liver failure, and abnormal coagulation function.

On June 26, due to his serious illness, Xiao Peng's 69-year-old grandfather unfortunately passed away on the evening of the 25th. At present, his 15-year-old brother, 42-year-old mother and 37-year-old father are still receiving treatment in the hospital and are not out of danger.

The best way to avoid accidentally ingesting poisonous mushrooms

Just don't eat wild mushrooms casually

Many people believe that the brighter the color of the mushroom, the more poisonous it is. In fact, it is not advisable to identify poisonous mushrooms by color alone. Some lethal mushroom species are pure white or gray, such as Amanita amanita gray, Amanita fatal, and Amanita schizophyllum in the genus Amanita spp. And many brightly colored mushrooms are edible, such as porcini spp., red mushrooms, and chanterelles.

Since there is still a lack of easy identification methods to distinguish poisonous mushrooms from edible mushrooms, the best way for ordinary people to avoid accidentally eating poisonous mushrooms is not to eat wild mushrooms casually.

Once the following symptoms appear after ingestion of wild mushrooms, there is a high suspicion of poisoning.

1. Digestive tract reaction This is an early symptom of poisonous mushroom poisoning, most of which occur about 2 hours after consumption, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.

2. Neurological symptoms Patients may experience neurological symptoms such as dizziness, hallucinations, slowed heartbeat, drowsiness, cognitive impairment, speech difficulties, and muscle weakness, and in severe cases, convulsions, coma, etc.

3. Symptoms of visceral damage: Patients may have impaired liver function, manifested as hepatomegaly, abnormal liver function, jaundice, and feel fever in the body.

4. Respiratory symptoms Some poisonous mushrooms can cause respiratory problems, such as shortness of breath and difficulty breathing.

5. Hematologic symptoms The incubation period is 6~12 hours, and the longest can be up to 2 days, and patients will have jaundice, acute anemia, etc.

After the occurrence of poisonous mushroom poisoning, the first time to induce vomiting, as far as possible to spit out the unabsorbed poison out of the body, such as taking water or light salt water, with the hand to pick the throat, stimulate vomiting, until the vomited substance is colorless, tasteless, and at the same time seek medical attention as soon as possible. Because the mechanism of poisonous mushroom poisoning is very complex, doctors need to adopt different effective treatment measures according to the specific situation.
