The head of Ukraine's defense industry, Herman Smetanin, recently disclosed a threatening message, saying that long-range drones with a range of more than 1,000 kilometers are already in mass production. At the same time, Smetanen mentioned that the drones are already eyeing "the enemy's strategic targets."
Although Smetanen did not directly say which targets the drones will aim at, based on the actual situation in the past, Ukrainian drones tend to launch strikes against key facilities such as oil refineries in Russia. In addition, Moscow has also been harassed by drone attacks, and there have even been cases of drones flying over the Kremlin and exploding.
So Ukraine may have sent a threat signal to Russia, and once the Ukrainian army's long-range drones are equipped on a large scale, Russia's life will be even more difficult. You know, a drone with a range of more than 1000 kilometers is enough to reach Moscow. And if these drones are mass-produced, it will also be possible to visit Moscow every day.
The key is that the drone itself is not very easy to stop, the traditional interception methods of the Russian army, including the S-300 and S-400 air defense missile systems, may be effective when intercepting ordinary fighters, but it is really hard to say how effective the interception of drones is. Ukrainian drones have repeatedly created examples of launching surprise attacks deep into Russian territory before, which shows that Russia does have some headaches in terms of defending against drone attacks.
Of course, then again, Russia is not blindly beaten. After a period of hard work to catch up, the Russian army already has a lot of drones, and Ukraine faces drone bombardment almost every day, and in this regard, Ukraine has no advantages at all. Smetanin also admitted that Russia has larger resource reserves and a stronger industrial base, and that Russia's way cannot be imitated, and that Ukraine can only "find another way".
Ukraine, like Russia, faces the problem of insufficient air defense. Although Kyiv often claims to intercept 100% of Russian drones, the Ukrainian side also admits that a large amount of infrastructure has been damaged in drone strikes, and on Saturday alone, nearly 200 Ukrainian infrastructure facilities were hit by drones. So, the pain is not only Russian, but also Ukrainian. If the conflict is not brought to an end sooner, the cost to both sides will be even greater.
