There were two poets in the late Tang Dynasty, known as "Pi Lu". The poems of the two are both strange and simple, and they are mostly sympathetic to the sufferings of the people. Among them, Pi Rixiu has a poem about wild vegetables:

"Lu Wang's Thanksgiving to the Wild and Showing Elegance"

The cane is warm and sunny in the spring, and the annoying gentleman is a basket for me.

Deeply pick the lip liquid at first sight, and pinch it carefully to smell the mouse ear.

The purple armor is collected from the spring vein, and the green tooth is searched from the stone root.

The carved rice is cooked and soft, not that the master is not suitable for taste.

Among them, "deeply pick the lip liquid at first sight, and pinch the mouse ear fragrance carefully." There are two kinds of wild vegetables in the sentence - beef lips and rat ears. Ox lip, now known as Ze Yuan, is a perennial herbaceous plant that grows near water. Rat's ear, i.e., rattle.

Rat grass is an herbaceous plant of the Asteraceae family, which is found in the north and south of the continent. Every spring, in the fields of the village, you will see a young grass covered with fine white wool. When the young grass grows, the stem becomes slender, and the crown will have small yellow flowers, which is called rattle.

Morphological characteristics

Rat koji grass is a perennial herb that usually ranges from 30 cm to 100 cm in height. Its stems are erect, more branched, and the surface is covered with white wool hairs. The leaves are oval or lanceolate with serrated teeth on the edges. In late spring, the koji grass produces small yellow flowers with head-shaped inflorescences, which are very eye-catching.

Growing environment

Rat koji grass likes to grow in moist, fertile soil, does not require much light, and can grow well in a semi-shaded and half-sun environment. It is found all over China, but is most common in the Jiangnan region. The koji grass germinates new leaves in the spring, blooms in the summer, sets seeds in the fall, and dormants in the winter.

The names of rat koji grass are different in various places, and there are dozens of names such as rat koji grass, white-headed grass, rat ear, Qingming grass, mushroom mother, rat shell grass and so on.

The mouse ear is said to be shaped like a rat's body, and there is white hair like jade", which is recorded in the Southern Dynasty's "Famous Doctor's Catalogue": "The mouse ear says that its leaf shape is like a mouse ear, and there is white hair and velvet. Because of this, the leaf shape of rattle grass is small, it is a spoon-shaped obovate or inverted lanceo rolled inward, and the front and back are covered with white cotton hair, soft and fleshy, like mouse ears. The name of the whitehead grass should also be related to this. Its top branch is a dense umbrella inflorescence, with yellow flowers, so it is described as "the leaves are like rat ears, and the flowers are like curves", and its name is called rat grass. Li Shizhen described that "there are many fields in the field, seedlings are born in February, and the stems and leaves are soft". "Rat koji grass" is supposed to be a forgery of rat koji grass, and it has spread. But the most formal name of this little guy is still "rat koji grass", which comes from the "Compendium of Materia Medica", which says: "Koji, which is said to be yellow as koji, can be eaten with rice flour." Mouse ears, said that its leaf shape is like a rat's body, and there are white hairs like jade ......". The yellow color of the koji flower is very similar to the color of the koji, and it can be eaten with rice noodles, so the word "koji" is used.

Qingming grass refers to the season of growth and picking, before and after Qingming, there will be dots of rattle grass in the field, tender and tender, a probe to probe the brain.

The "Furry Mother" is related to the white fur on its body. It is also known as the "mother of ten thousand mushrooms" among the people. The name also has a sad legend. Legend has it that in the last years of the Northern Song Dynasty, the deceased monarch Song Huizong was escorted north by the Jin. While resting on the side of the road, Song Huizong saw a fluffy grass on the ground that had just broken through the ground, which looked like a shawl made of silver fox fur. This grace temporarily reminded Huizong of the past in his heart, and he even asked the courtiers who were also captured at the current time. The courtiers told him it was approaching! When Song Huizong heard this, he was immediately touched by the scene, so he made a poem with the title of this little grass:

茸母初生忍禁烟,

The homeless scene is doubly eerie.

Who is the main spring in the imperial city,

Refers to the tears of the township.
