This activity was jointly initiated by the Nanjing Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the High School Affiliated to Nanjing Normal University, aiming to explore a new model of integration of science and education by combining the strong scientific research platform and high-level talent advantages of the Nanjing Branch with the high-quality students and high-level teaching of the High School Affiliated to Nanjing Normal University. The purpose of building such a platform is to open up the channel between middle schools and scientific research institutes, bring students the concepts and resources of scientific and technological innovation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, stimulate students' interest in scientific research, guide students' awareness of scientific and technological innovation, and cultivate more top-notch innovative talents.

After the solicitation of topics from six research institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the self-recommendation application of students from the affiliated middle school, and the two-way mutual selection of tutors and students, a total of 14 topics such as "spectral chip design, development and performance research" were selected as the official research topics of this issue. A total of 59 students participated in the study, including the National Science and Technology University class, the experimental class and the IB class of the High School Affiliated to the High School.

This research plan has three characteristics: first, the candidate topics are further enriched, and some new topics have been selected for 20 different scientific research directions; The second is the further optimization of the teaching team, the Nanjing Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has selected a faculty with high comprehensive quality, strong professional ability and strong teaching ability; Third, the registration process is further optimized. Through the first five phases of the "Zijin" exploration project, many students' works have been published in top domestic journals, some students have obtained invention patents, some students have obtained experimental instrument operation certificates, and some students have obtained the qualifications of tutors to write recommendation letters to universities.

At the event, Chen Jianglong, vice president of the Nanjing Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered a speech first. He said that in this plan, the scientific research units of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Nanjing have basically participated, and the main disciplines involved have deployed scientific inquiry topics, and a group of scientific research backbones of the research institute have been invited to guide students to carry out scientific exploration topics. He said that he believed that through the organization of the "Zijin" scientific inquiry research program, it could establish a bridge for students to contact and understand the Chinese Academy of Sciences, feel the thinking concept and academic atmosphere of scientific and technological innovation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and hope to further stimulate students' interest in natural sciences, guide students to cultivate their awareness of scientific and technological innovation, and let students realize the further exercise and growth of thinking exploration and hands-on practical ability.

Wu Longhua, a researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Nanjing Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that it is not easy for students to study in the school while also learning scientific research content in a limited time. He also hoped that the students could continue to participate in research projects during the summer vacation, enhance their practical ability, hands-on ability, ability to analyze and solve problems, and learn how to use various instruments.
