Among them, the most conspicuous problem is his support for the "Taiwan independence" stance, which is gradually arousing more people's vigilance and worry.
This concern is growing especially against the backdrop of frequent military exercises on the mainland. Although the green media did not report on it, and Taiwan's defense department only briefly mentioned it, the facts cannot be ignored. Lai Qingde insisted on supporting Gu Lixiong's proposal, and Gu Lixiong's remarks undoubtedly reflected the true intentions of the United States as the spokesman of the United States in Taiwan. Gu Lixiong's proposal to reduce unnecessary drills, abolish formalism, and emphasize the emphasis on actual combat is precisely the strategy that the United States hopes Taiwan will adopt. The United States also does not dare to sell corresponding equipment with a range of more than 200 kilometers, because once it exceeds this range, it may directly threaten the Fujian region, which violates the bottom line of Chinese mainland's security. However, regardless of the type of weapons sold, Chinese mainland has always taken a stance against it. After all, the current DPP authorities are relying on the support of the United States to maintain the stability of their regime.
These people clearly lack historical insight and reflection. Take South Korea's Syngman Rhee as an example, he was overly dependent on the United States and tried to take another risk in the situation of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea, but in the end his four main divisions were completely destroyed in the decisive battle, and Syngman Rhee signed an armistice agreement in desperation. The Syngman Rhee regime eventually declined due to its over-reliance on the United States, and was subsequently replaced by the Americans. Vietnam's leaders are also facing political difficulties because they have been abandoned by the United States.
However, the DPP authorities do not seem to have learned from this. They seem to believe that with an economic pillar like TSMC, the United States must maintain close ties with Taiwan. At the same time, Taiwan's strategic position, as an important link in the first island chain, has also been overemphasized. In fact, the United States has long intended to adjust its strategic deployment beyond the second island chain. This was evident during the Obama years, when the United States expanded Andersen Air Force Base and Navy Port on Guam, both in preparation for a possible strategic withdrawal from the second island chain. However, within the current DPP administration, the number of officials who truly understand these strategic intentions is scarce, while those who lack relevant understanding are gradually climbing to the top positions.
Basically, in the eyes of Lai Ching-te, any proposition in Taiwan is on the same path as him, and it is either Type A "Taiwan independence" or Type B "Taiwan independence." Those who advocate maintaining the status quo are also "Taiwan independence." In short, according to Lai Qingde's logic, all people in Taiwan are now "Taiwan independence." This gives the mainland conclusive evidence of its actions. Since Lai Qingde said that all Taiwanese people advocate "Taiwan independence," the time for "military reunification" has been put on the agenda. Therefore, Lai Qingde is really playing with fire, but he doesn't know what fire he is playing. Lai Qingde's low level is rare in the world, and he has no staff next to him, and he likes to use his own people.
