June 5 this year is the 53rd World Environment Day (hereinafter referred to as the "June Five-Year Environment Day"), which is also the first anniversary of the country's visit to Inner Mongolia, the convening of a symposium on strengthening the comprehensive prevention and control of desertification and promoting the construction of key ecological projects such as the "Three Norths", and the deployment of the three major campaigns of desertification control. The theme of China's June Five-Year Environment Day is "Advancing the Construction of a Beautiful China", and the global theme released by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) focuses on "Land Restoration, Halting Desertification and Enhancing Resilience to Drought". The Kubuqi Desert Management in Inner Mongolia is an innovative case of promoting the construction of a beautiful China and an international model of ecological governance, and was invited to introduce China's experience in desertification control at the National Main Event of the June Five-Year Environment Day and the Theme Day of the United Nations Environment Programme respectively.

Representatives of the Kubuqi Yili Ecological Demonstration Zone in Hangjinqi, Inner Mongolia told the story of China's desertification control
On the same day in Nanning, Guangxi, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Department of National Civilization, and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region jointly held the national main event of the 2024 June Five-Year Environment Day. Building a beautiful China is an important part of realizing the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Under the guidance of relevant ideas, a beautiful China in which man and nature coexist in harmony is turning from a blueprint into a reality. The event specially set up a theme display session of "Seeing Beautiful China from Here", and selected 6 "Beautiful China Construction Innovation Demonstration Cases" from cases across the country, and the "Lucid Water and Lush Mountains are Invaluable Assets" practice innovation base in the Kubuqi Desert Yili Ecological Demonstration Zone of Hangjinqi, Inner Mongolia was displayed at the event site as the only "Two Mountains" base case. Tian Wang, a Kubuqi desertification control engineer from Elion Resources Group, was invited to participate in the event, and he introduced to the global guests the vivid story of the government, enterprises, farmers and herdsmen working together to manage the Kubuqi Desert for more than 30 years and building the "Sea of Death" into an oasis of life under the guidance of ecological civilization.

Share the Yili Kubuqi desertification control model and green and low-carbon transformation
On the afternoon of June 3, the 2024 World Environment Day theme event hosted by UNEP China was held in Beijing. Guo Weiliang, Vice President of Elion Resources Group and President of Elion Photovoltaic Desertification Control Planning and Research Institute, was invited to participate in the event and share in the dialogue session, introducing Elion's 36 years of hard work in the Kubuqi Desert, innovation and exploration of the "Kubuqi Model", development of green industries, poverty alleviation, continuous support for the holding of nine Kubuqi International Desert Forum, transformation and upgrading of forest and grass sand control and the integrated development of light and hydrogen sand control, and cooperation with Saudi Arabia and other countries in sand control. At present, Elion has realized the three-dimensional ecological photovoltaic sand control in Kubuqi on a large scale, with "double-sided power generation on the board, double-layer ecology under the board, and low-carbon industry between the plates". Since the "14th Five-Year Plan", the scale and speed of China's desertification control have been continuously improved, and Elion is stepping up efforts to promote the Kubuqi model and technology to the western desert area.

As the main battlefield of desertification control and the main line of defense against sandstorms on the mainland, Inner Mongolia is responsible for 60% of the tasks of desertification land management in the sixth phase of the national "Three Norths" project, and accounts for "two and a half" in the three landmark battles of sand prevention and control of the "Three Norths" project, which is in urgent need of young talents.
