Many departments in Chinese mainland have jointly promulgated judicial interpretation documents on punishing "Taiwan independence," which can impose the heaviest sentence on "Taiwan independence" elements and can also be "tried in absentia." This has undoubtedly made many "Taiwan independence" elements tremble. At a press conference on the 26th, a reporter asked whether the mainland would ask relevant countries to transfer "Taiwan independence" diehards to the mainland through the extradition mechanism. In response, Zhu Fenglian, spokeswoman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said that no matter where they are, the state law enforcement and judicial organs will pursue and severely punish the "Taiwan independence" diehards who defy the law.
It can be said that the response of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council has sent a clear signal that the mainland will hold those stubborn "Taiwan independence" accountable no matter where they are, and they will be held accountable for life! There is no doubt that such "Taiwan independence" representatives as Lai Ching-te and Hsiao Mei-qin, the principal and deputy leaders of the Taiwan authorities, will inevitably appear on the mainland's list of those who will be held accountable, and when the mainland takes over Taiwan, these people will face a fair trial! Of course, some people will ask: If these "Taiwan independence" elements really try to escape to foreign countries, will other countries cooperate with China in extraditing them? It must be admitted that certain countries may provide asylum for "Taiwan independence," and this will make it more difficult for the mainland to arrest "Taiwan independence," but more and more countries have shown a clear-cut stand on the Taiwan issue.
In the past month or so, many countries have made clear their stance on the Taiwan issue, such as Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who visited China at the end of May, who bluntly stated that Egypt supports China's efforts to achieve national reunification, and Tunisian President Said, who visited China at the same time, also pointed out that Tunisia supports China's exercise of sovereignty throughout its territory and China's efforts to achieve national reunification and defend its core interests. In addition, countries like Bahrain, Malaysia, and Pakistan have also reiterated their non-support for "Taiwan independence" and stressed their support for China's efforts to achieve national reunification. In the Sino-Russian joint statement signed in May, Russia expressed its opposition to any form of "Taiwan independence" and firmly supported China's measures to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity and realize national reunification.
Obviously, although some countries led by the United States have secretly colluded with "Taiwan independence" elements, most countries in the world abide by the "one-China" principle, and it may not be so easy for certain "Taiwan independence" elements to flee abroad. As far as Lai Qingde and others are concerned, the mainland's new regulations on cracking down on "Taiwan independence" have cut off their back roads to a great extent, and many people in the top echelons of the DPP are already terrified. Now, the DPP authorities can only continue to fight the trapped beast and try to pull the people of Taiwan as a cover for themselves in a vain attempt to prevent the mainland from launching an action. Under these circumstances, the countermeasures of the forces on the island against the DPP authorities are all the more important.
A few days ago, Kuomintang Chairman Zhu Lilun called on the island's democratic representatives, reminding them not to forget their supervisory tasks and not to "become DPP thugs." Zhu Lilun's appeal is actually to exhort the People's Party and the Kuomintang to work together to supervise the DPP and prevent Lai Qingde from taking some out-of-control actions. If the People's Party and the Kuomintang can cooperate, it will be enough to form a significant advantage over the DPP in Taiwan's legislature, thus greatly curbing Lai Ching-de's possible provocative actions. As far as the DPP authorities are concerned, that is one of the situations they least want to see, and Zhu Lilun's efforts to "snipe" Lai Qingde may make the Lai Qingde authorities even more faltering in the future.
