On June 27, the exhibition "Exploring the Ancient Shu Civilization - Sanxingdui and Jinsha" opened in Exhibition Hall 1-2 on the first floor of the exhibition building of the Grand Canal Museum in Beijing, and will last until October 10, 2024. The exhibition is free and open to the public without reservations. On the first day of the exhibition, the reporter of Beiqing Community Daily (WeChat ID: tongzhoushequbao) rushed to explore the exhibition, the scene was particularly hot, the scorching sun could not stop the enthusiasm of tourists, the team meandered for hundreds of meters, and some people came to line up an hour before the opening of the museum. It is recommended that everyone stagger the peak to see the exhibition.
Three chapters explore the ancient Shu civilization
Step into the exhibition hall with golden and dark green tones and start a journey through the "crossing". The exhibition is divided into three wonderful chapters: "Discovering Sanxingdui", "Interpreting Sanxingdui" and "Positioning Sanxingdui", leading the audience to explore the Sanxingdui ruins and Jinsha ruins, and gradually unveil the veil of the origin of Chinese civilization. The exhibition brings together 265 pieces (sets) of cultural relics from 12 museums and cultural institutions, including 46 sets of national first-class cultural relics.

The exhibits include bronze statues, bronze masks with crowns, bronze heads with gold masks, gold masks, bronze figures with twisted bodies, bronze sun-shaped vessels, etc., each of which reflects the unique charm and artistic achievements of the ancient Shu civilization.
In the exhibition hall, there is a super-large bronze mask, which is the largest bronze mask unearthed in the No. 3 pit of the Sanxingdui site in 2021, and many people take photos in front of its booth to admire. The reporter observed that a 90-year-old citizen of Tongzhou in a wheelchair held a sketchbook and painted a large bronze mask with a brush. His family told reporters: "He has been painting (various exhibits) since he was a child, and his works at home can be as tall as one person." ”

The reporter also saw that a bronze kneeling figure was placed in the display case, showing that there was a realistic sculpture art in ancient Shu more than 3,000 years ago. This bronze figure and the other two bronze figures with basically the same shape form the "triplets". Different from the abstract bronze figure unearthed in Sanxingdui before, this portrait is closer to the real human figure - kneeling posture, leaning forward slightly, head twisted to the right, hands half "folded", palms and the inside of the two coiled hairs are smoothed, and it was once a card slot. The characters' hands, calves and coiled hair are decorated with cloud and thunder patterns, swallowtail patterns, feather crown patterns, etc. Excavators speculate that three kneeling figures with their heads twisted or together hold a larger composite artifact.

The bronze tiger head dragon statue unearthed in 2021 is one of the tallest animal-shaped bronzes seen in Sanxingdui. Judging from the body shape, it should be one of the heavy weapons of Sanxingdui people.

There is also the most complete gold mask in the archaeological excavation of Sanxingdui site, with hollowed eyebrows and eyes, rounded ears and ears, high nose bridge, large and slightly open mouth, and majestic and sacred. At present, 10 pieces of gold masks have been unearthed at the Sanxingdui site, which have been unearthed in the No. 1 and No. 2 sacrificial pits, as well as the No. 3, No. 5 and No. 8 pits newly discovered in recent years.

In addition, the Beijing Grand Canal Museum also held the "Adventure Sanxingdui" VR immersive exhibition on the basement floor of the shared hall (separate tickets required), using naked-eye 3D technology and VR technology to lead the audience through time and space, visit the Sanxingdui ruins, have a dialogue with the ancient Shu people, and feel the ancient and mysterious civilization. At the same time, a series of unique Sanxingdui cultural and creative products will also be unveiled, showing the historical and cultural heritage of the ancient Shu civilization and the ingenuity of the designer.
