China can play an important role in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but when to step in needs to be carefully considered. There is currently some room for compromise between Israel and Palestine, and China's unique position makes it possible to be an "honest broker." If China can broker the release of the hostages by Hamas in exchange for Israel abandoning its invasion of Gaza, and an Israeli-Hamas ceasefire, it could be a mutually acceptable solution. But both Israel's domestic politics and Hamas's interests need to be considered. It is not good for China to intervene too early.
