On June 29th, the launching event of the 2024 Guangzhou Academic Season and the "Widely Known" Social Science Popularization Series was held in the City Meeting Room of Guangzhou International Media Port. Representatives of the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Federation of Social Sciences, universities, party schools, scientific research management departments in Guangzhou, the Municipal Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Municipal Social Science Social Organization, and the Municipal Social Science Popularization Base attended the event. "Widely known" social science benefits the people
The 2024 Guangzhou Academic Season and the "Widely Known" Social Science Popularization Series were officially launched. This year, it will focus on Guangzhou's "city, culture, and business context", deeply excavate and vividly present the rich historical and cultural connotation of Guangzhou, highlight the unique charm of the "famous historical and cultural city", organize more than 300 humanities and social science popularization activities with the city's social science popularization base as the position, and set up a "widely known" social science expert volunteer team. Among them, efforts were made to practice the method of ordering from the masses and learning to receive orders, and cooperated with Yuexiu District to mobilize 10 affiliated social science societies to plan and launch 45 series of activities of "I do practical things for the masses and social science services go to the grassroots". In the rich and colorful social science activities to benefit the people, we use academics to explain politics, use theories to guide public opinion, use social sciences to care for the society, and promote humanities and social sciences to serve enlighten people's wisdom, benefit people's livelihood, and moisten people's hearts.
Collaborative innovation drives transformation
In order to better serve the major needs of Guangzhou to build an international exchange center and an innovative city, deepen the construction of Guangzhou as an international exchange center city, and improve the city's innovation and development capabilities, the Municipal Federation of Social Sciences and the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office carried out strategic cooperation and signed a framework agreement on the spot. The strategic cooperation will focus on more than 1,000 cases of the "Guangzhou International Urban Innovation Award" to carry out international research, mainly including promoting the collaborative innovation of Guangzhou urban studies, jointly establishing the Guangzhou International Urban Research Center, jointly commending the outstanding achievements of Guangzhou international urban innovation research, and establishing a long-term mechanism for exchange and cooperation, so as to help Guangzhou improve the global city level and enhance the city's international competitiveness through research collaboration, platform construction, expert organization, and achievement transformation.
The two sides will jointly build the Guangzhou Key Laboratory of Digital RMB and Financial Innovation, and organically integrate the forces of universities, scientific research institutions and enterprises with the "1+1+N" construction model, promote the application of digital technology in the field of social sciences, promote the interdisciplinary integration and development, and the chain transformation of industry, academia, research and application, and help build Guangzhou as an international financial center.
Theoretical quality to be better and stronger
At the event, the launch ceremony of the popular science book series "Guangzhou in the Museum" was held. The book series "Guangzhou in the Museum", a key publishing project jointly planned by the Propaganda Department of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Guangzhou Federation of Social Sciences, and the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, will be published by the Guangzhou Publishing House under the Guangzhou Xinhua Publishing and Distribution Group.
In recent years, the Guangzhou Federation of Social Sciences has been deeply engaged in theoretical excellence, making the Yangcheng Academic Library brand better and stronger, closely following the three themes of "Chinese-style Modernization", "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Construction" and "Guangzhou History and Culture", implementing the 2023-2024 "Yangcheng Academic Library" funded publication project, promoting social science workers to pay attention to the construction of the Bay Area and Guangzhou research, and receiving a total of 61 person-times and 70 academic monographs, a year-on-year increase of 200%; In-depth excavation of the cultural connotation of Guangzhou's "four places", compilation and launch of "Guangzhou in the Museum" and other urban cultural popularization books, showing the cultural charm of Guangzhou for thousands of years; In 2024, City Observation won the most popular journal of the year by the National Philosophy and Social Science Documentation Center for the second time, and was selected for the third time in the BIBF "China Excellent Periodicals Exhibition".
