It is reported that Huang Yongben's ancestral home is Zhoutou Village, Nantong Town, Minhou County, Fuzhou City, and he is a well-known patriotic overseas Chinese leader in the United States who is enthusiastic about public welfare undertakings in his hometown. Since the 80s of the last century, Huang Yongben has donated tens of millions of yuan to public welfare undertakings such as medical care, education, sanitation, water access, roads, and poverty alleviation in his hometown. The Fujian Provincial Government has awarded him the "Fujian Provincial Donation Outstanding Contribution Award" gold medals, plaques and honorary certificates for many times, and set up monuments for commendation.
