India's small abacus failed, the BRICS no longer accepted new members, and the time for reckoning came

The expansion of the BRICS has been a very hot topic recently, and every move of the BRICS countries always affects the nerves of the world. Recently, the BRICS countries collectively decided to temporarily close the door to expansion and instead focus on integrating the in-depth cooperation of the existing new member countries. This decision has undoubtedly taught a vivid lesson in reality to India, which has been trying to strengthen its position through the expansion of its staff.

India's small abacus failed, the BRICS no longer accepted new members, and the time for reckoning came

For a long time, India has harbored "great power ambitions" and tried to win more voice and influence for itself by attracting Turkey, Thailand and other countries into the BRICS framework, and eat both the East and the West. In India's view, expanding the number of members can not only expand the circle of friends, but also take the opportunity to increase its weight in the BRICS and change the fact that it is in the "marginal circle" of the BRICS. However, the ideal is plump, but the reality is extremely skinny. This vote of the BRICS countries undoubtedly poured cold water on India's enthusiasm, and the carefully laid out small abacus came to an abrupt end.

India may not have expected that the BRICS countries would choose prudence and rationality in the face of the temptation to expand, and resolutely maintain the cohesion and efficiency of the alliance. Why, then, did the BRICS countries choose to press the pause button on the expansion at this time?

The answer lies in one word – "cohesion". Cohesion is far better than recruiting new ones, and this expansion also gives the BRICS countries a chance to completely "liquidate". As the number of BRICS members has increased in recent years, the BRICS countries have realized that instead of blindly pursuing expansion, it is better to consolidate existing cooperation mechanisms and ensure real synergies between new and old members. This is not only to avoid indigestion, but also to build a unified consensus.

Prior to this, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister clearly spelled out the new criteria and prerequisites for applying for membership in the BRICS. The central takeaway is that it is particularly critical that interested States refrain from engaging in any form of illegal unilateral sanctions. In particular, the Deputy Foreign Minister stressed that opposition to and refusal to participate in any sanctions against Russia is a necessary condition for joining the BRICS. In other words, countries that are currently imposing sanctions on Russia, regardless of their motives, cannot join the BRICS. As soon as this remark came out, it was not only a warning to the members who wanted to join the BRICS, but also a "liquidation" of the member countries that had joined the BRICS.

We all know that India has always been very close to the United States, and even many major policies are following in the footsteps of the United States, and this time the BRICS "temporarily stopped the expansion" is to warn India, pay attention, if India cannot figure out the major rights and wrongs, then I am afraid that it will be completely abandoned by the BRICS. At the same time, it is also a wake-up call for all BRICS member states. It reminds all countries that the core values of the BRICS cooperation mechanism lie in mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit among members, rather than the selfish interests of individual countries.

Therefore, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent announcement that he will personally visit Russia in the near future is actually a gesture of goodwill to the BRICS countries. Overall, this decision of the BRICS countries marks the beginning of a new era. "Temporarily suspend the expansion of personnel" is a good idea. Many countries are chasing the BRICS, but they are making a big move, which is easy to provoke resentment, and it is a wise move to judge the situation and retreat bravely. At the moment of reckoning, it is also an opportunity for rebirth.
